I'd always heard that if you were into food festivals, that Abergevenny Food Festival was one not to miss!

But until this year I had never even been to Abergevenny, let alone to the food festival. We were recently invited as guests to attend, and headed up on a glorious Saturday.

Below is a brief round up of what we did, and photo diary. We also attended the Raymond Blanc interview with Shelia Dillon. In it Raymond talked about his passion for food, his heritage and background and how that has shaped the way he sees food. He also talked about his role as President of the Sustainable Restaurant Association, and how we can play a pivotal role as consumers, in shaping the way we cultivate and buy our food through the Food Made Good campaign they have just launched this weekend.

The Food

Spoiled for choice with over 200 stalls to choose from, from fresh food to traders selling produce to take home. It was a foodies dream! The kind which makes you wish you had an extra stomach to be able to fit it all in.

We visited our old favourites...

Hang Fire Smokehouse

Dusty Knuckle Pizza

The Garlic Farm

And many more...

onions

hog roast

icecream

cocktails

gin cocktails

chillies

cauliflower

vinegars

patisserie

bakery

The event was jam packed, the sun was shining, the food was epic, and there was far too much to choose from.

If we go again next year I think we would spend the weekend in Abervegenny and also attend the party in the castle on the Saturday night. With so much going on you do need a full weekend to see it all.

Coming up is my run down of Raymond Blanc's interview with Sheila Dillon.
