I love Easter time – the Autumn has well & truly set in, bringing warm sunny days, filled with outdoor play, followed by cool snuggly nights spent curled up on the couch with a hot drink, a good book & a blanket.
The air is heavy with moisture & the garden is flourishing after struggling through the heat of Summer. Then, as an added, & much-loved bonus, there are lots & lots of chocolate & breakfasts filled with warm, soft, fluffy hot cross buns!
Our 3 year old, Seth, has been asking me how hot cross buns are made. To be honest, I didn’t really know as we’d always just had the bought kind from local bakeries. It was on this query that I decided to give them a go & see what I could come up with. After a few attempts, I re-discovered the usefulness of a bread maker & the fun of getting covered in flour & sticky dough – especially with a 3 year old ‘helping’!
