Hello good people!! Well … it’s that time of the week again! The time where I link up with the lovely Kirsty from My Home Truths to reveal a little something about myself, life or blog, depending on the topic for the week.
This week Kirsty has left the decision to those linking – so for me that means I have the opportunity to share a little something I am a very excited about. My first ever bloggy giveaway!!!! (Please note: this is not a sponsored post – it comes from the gift giver & humble little me).
I had been pondering the idea of having a giveaway, but confess I was a little unsure about how & what. Then, as sometimes happens in life, I was handed a gift from a very kind & passionate lady & I knew I had the what, I just had to figure out how.
Turns out that was pretty easy too – being a madly obsessive blog stalker & Googler is a big help sometimes – (yep, another confession)!
Anyway … a bit of back story for you. In late June, I dragged my children & Mum along to an expo being held locally called;
I thought it would be a great morning’s outing for my little ones & a chance for Mum & I to spend some time together to “ooo” & “ahhh” at all the cleverness of the folks with stalls at Mums, Bubs & Tots, along with the CraftAlive part of the same expo.
When we arrived at the Bendigo Exhibition Centre, we were drawn hastily, by a running, excited 3 year old to Farmer Darryl’s Animal Nursery where a gorgeous menagerie of farm animals were happily being followed, chased, grabbed, screamed at & petted by packs of excited children, (& parents)!
My little Maisie was a fearless crawler, chasing after everything that crossed her path, squealing with glee when she got close enough to touch & screaming with indignation when it came time to move on!
The moving on was so we could catch the main event, the Bananas in PJ’s singing & dancing up a storm. Seth was so excited he couldn’t keep still, but he was determined to ‘stay on the mat’, so he could see all the action – which he did & loved!
While my ever patient & wonderful Mum watched over the kids during the B’sinPJ’s, I managed to sneak off to get some coffee & have a little look around.
One of the first stalls I was drawn to belonged to a very animated lady by the name of Jacklyn, who was demonstrating a product she has designed herself called the Kiddies Food Kutter. Jacklyn was so genuinely enthusiastic about her product, she could barely contain herself to stay behind the stall to show you how they worked!
Essentially, the knife is designed with the safety of little fingers in mind – their motto being “the knife that cuts FOOD, not fingers” – children can use it to cut things like fruit & vegetables without the fear of cutting themselves while doing it!
This little gadget is so awesome – it uses the principle of sawing & pressure, rather than slicing, so the ‘blade’ on this is not sharp at all, but the serration means it will cut effectively through many foods without too much hassle, or best of all risk. You can see a pic of Seth using it here – he absolutely loves ‘helping’ in the kitchen & finds any reason he can to use them, from preparing food for the rabbit to cutting his veggies at the dinner table.
I can’t tell you how lovely Jacklyn was – we got chatting while she showed me how the KFK worked – I was saying how I love a good kitchen gadget & anything that made food prep safer for my kids was a winner in my eyes. On this day Jacklyn was doing a deal for a 3 knife pack & her newest design for an easy to use, safety peeler for kids.
I loved both & was paying for them while we talked about cooking & I mentioned that I had decided to start blogging recently. It was like fireworks went off in Jacklyn’s eyes & before I knew it, she was throwing another packet of knives at me & saying how much she loves bloggers & chooses expos & word of mouth to sell her products, rather than commercial media.
She asked me to tell people if I liked the product – I felt it was appropriate to make sure I did that & gave away her generous gift to show others how great her products are indeed!
So … after all that preamble, here’s what you can win;
Up for grabs is a 3 pack of Kiddies Food Kutters & an Easy Peeler (my name for it, not Jacklyn’s).
